Social Media Marketing
(SMM) is one of the
most powerful marketing techniques around on the web. It is growing
at a phenomenal rate, and the most popular examples are Twitter,
Facebook and YouTube. Those in the know are beginning to find ways to
use SMM to promote their companies and products, and are gaining access
to millions of web users worldwide who log in daily to check their
Facebook accounts. Twitter make it even easier with a facility where
you can log in and ‘tweet’ wherever you are by mobile phone – just
imagine the amount of traffic Twitter generates!
In brief, social media sites are a way for users to get in touch,
share information and stay in touch with friends, colleagues etc via
the web using text, email, photos, videos etc In each case, each user
creates an account or profile on the social media site which often
lists hobbies, jobs, likes, dislikes etc. You can then create your own
account and use the in-built search facility to look for like-minded
people, graduates from your high school, etc and then get in contact.
Now, think about how you might be able to use this concept to
promote your company… if you’re able to search geographically for
people with defined likes and dislikes, you can then build a list of
those who might be interested in your product. BEWARE though, there
are rules which you must abide by if you want to succeed in this field,
and NO DIRECT SELLING is one of them!
